Taroko Gorge National Park is slowly reopening in 2026 and Island Life Taiwan wants to be the first to take you there! Our Taroko Gorge tour features a spectacular scenic drive through the epic Gorge itself, along with several stops for walking and exploring. Additional trails and stops will be added as new parts of the park reopen!
Our groups never get bigger than 8 people, all our guides speak English and Hualien City hotel pick up is always included!

We took the Taroko Gorge tour today. Our incredible tour guide, Jason made it a wonderful day with his enthusiasm, wealth of local knowledge, historical and geological information. We would love to have Jason again when the trails are fully opened.

Just finished the Taroko Gorge reopening tour with Jason. He was an excellent, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable guide! I can’t recommend him enough. Despite the most recent 2025 Gorge trail closures, he showed us a great time!
On our short trip to Taiwan we chose to make a stop in Hualien to experience the beautiful nature of the area, and it sure did not disappoint! We had a wonderful day with our local guide Jason who knows the area and its history very well. Unfortunately parts of the Taroko Gorge National Park were closed due to a recent landslide. But nevertheless we had a well-varied day and have seen many beautiful places, we enjoyed the tour very much.
Even though parts of the tour could not be done due to a landslide two weeks ago, the whole team did their best to organize a tour on which we can get the most and best impression of the region. If you are uncertain due to limited access: whatever insight you can get from Taroko Gorge and surroundings do not hesitate to join the tour: It’s worth it!
Our guide Jason was wonderful and provided interesting explanations and could answer any question we had. He was very supportive and this did not even stop after the tour ended: when I realized that I had forgotten my camera case in the car, he made the effort to bring it personally back to me. My biggest gratitude and thank you. This was a proof of Taiwanese courtesy, hospitality and generosity!
So: if you want to have a good impression on Taiwanese culture and enjoy a wonderful landscape: go for this tour!
Really enjoyed this tour, even though the park is still under construction AT was able to show us some magnificent views. We truly learned a lot about the park and Taiwan’s history, AT was making sure everyone was ok and well throughout the whole trip. Highly recommend this tour.

This tour was amazing! AT was our tour guide and he did such a good job of making everyone feel welcome. His English was excellent as well. Our group of four thought he was a lot of fun and his personality really enhanced the trip. We drove through Taroko Gorge and saw the incredible beauty that the gorge had to offer! AT was extremely knowledgeable and taught us all about the area and culture. He also shared with us information and stories about the earthquake that helped us understand the difficulties faced by the local area and people. While the gorge is still under restoration, this did not limit the experience of the visit. The aboriginal restaurant that he brought us to was delicious and a highlight of the trip! We also went to the visitors center in Taroko Gorge which was very interesting and educational. Big thank you to our guide and Island Life Taiwan for an amazing trip!
Today we went to Taroko Gorge, unfortunately many of the trails are still closed so we didn’t have the possibility to explore it all, but what we saw was amazing. Also, we were really lucky because our guide, Jason made the experience wonderful. He explained the history and a lot of facts about Hualien and Taroko. He is really passionate and he can transmit his passion to the people. I hope to come in future with Taroko fully open and meet Jason again!
We did the tour yesterday with Santa. It is a great day and definitely worth your money. Santa is a very knowledgeable guy and made sure the day went smoothly.

The two of us enjoyed our guided tour with Jason very much. It was an informative day tour that started at 7:30 with a pick-up from our Hotel. Jason is a local right from Hualien and the most intelligent tour guide who is happy to show his hometown and surroundings. The gorge is very impressive, even after the earthquake a year ago.

For anyone in two minds about whether or not it is worth visiting Taroko Gorge, it is!
We were skeptical about how much we would see and whether it’d be worth it, but decided to take the plunge and book a tour with Island Life Taiwan. Alan our tour guide was absolutely amazing! His communication and explanations of the whole area were so insightful. He fully explained the itinerary, kept us up to date with the weather and showed us all the best spots! It’s hard to understand the scale and magnitude of the gorge without seeing it in person. Even despite the trails not yet being open, we would 100% recommend and was one of the highlights of our trip!

We truly enjoyed our tour with Jason today. We saw so many beautiful places we would never have found on our own. Plus we enjoyed learning some history and geology about the island. Lunch at the aboriginal village was a delightful experience as well. So glad we found this tour.

Awesome tour, even though we couldnt get out on the trails in the park yet. It’s still spectacular to drive through, and the stops we did make were worth it. The stops outside the park were fun as well. Would recommend Island Life for sure.
